Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride 0.3% is a topical fluoroquinolone antibiotic formulated as ophthalmic solution or ointment and as otic drops, used locally to treat susceptible bacterial infections rather than systemic disease. Ophthalmic 0.3% products are indicated for bacterial conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers caused by organisms such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Otic formulations of ciprofloxacin are used for ear infections like acute otitis externa and chronic suppurative otitis media depending on product labeling, sometimes combined with steroids.
